Others say...

"Great grinder!"
I got this as a replacement for their other silver version, which I'd really liked. The idea of putting the beans in and letting it do it's thing consistently every time without having to hold it in your hand is great. And the removable basket is a great feature, too. I wanted this because it was black, but was surprised that it was bigger than their silver version, which I didn't need, but I got over it.

"A Piece of Junk"
This is the first thing I have bought on Amazon that was worthless. If more than 1/2 cup of coffee beans is placed in it, it will not grind the top layer. On my first try it kept grinding until the unit smoked. Consequently it takes forever to grind any amount of coffee. It is also very messy and awkwood to use.

"Good grinder for price"
This coffee grinder works great for me. We wanted a grinder to just grind for an auto-drip brewer. We're not into fancy and it does the job. I've gave it 4 stars because the one complaint I have is that the stainless steel bowl is hard to lock in and out of place (very stiff) if you have small hands. Also the edge of the bowl is sharp and I needed to cover it with a towel to cushion my hand when pressing down to unlock. Otherwise it's easy to use. Just put in the beans, set the number of cups and grind, then push the button and it does the job. It's easy to clean and comes with a brush so you can brush around the blade. Grinding noise is about average.

"works well, not the easiest to use though"
It does a great job of grinding and is not too loud. It is hard to put the silver cup in and out and then lock the unit, so I just keep the silver "removable" tray in, and then unplug the unit and pour the contents out.

For the price, it works well enough for my purposes.

"Great but not long lasting..."
I loved this product! (Notice the past tense) Although a little loud, it worked great for the 1-2 times a week we used it. After about a month, however, the motor started to smoke while in use and quickly burned out. I have contacted Hamilton Beach in regards to replacing it, we'll see what happens...

What our customer's say!

"Very Pleased", I was hesitant, but decided to purchase this as it seemed to meet my needs. I have found nothing wrong and I use it 4 times a week. Timer works, easy to remove and put back on, and grounds are consistent. Throw out your doubts and give this a try. The cord is long enough too, but you may not have it all out if you find it too short. Like the way it recoils back into the base.

"Does what it says. A grinder for the everyman.", If you ever go to buy a coffee grinder, the first thing you'll find out is that there's no simple answer for the question of "What do I buy?". Some people insist on a burr grinder because they say blades "burn" the coffee as they're spinning. The next thing they'll say is that you have to spend over $50 just for a low end one. Those people are really, really into coffee. I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm saying they're connoisseurs. Keep that in mind when you read grinder reviews.

I just want a cup of joe that's a little better than average without having to spend a lot of money. I use this to grind beans for a mass marketed French press and it works out fine. There's not sludge at the bottom of my cup, so the grind must be coarse enough on its coarsest setting. I didn't notice any "burned" taste on the beans (this is a blade grinder) but maybe my palette isn't refined enough to notice, or maybe the 8o'clock Coffee I buy is too cheap to matter. I just drink coffee to wake up in the morning. Construction of the device seems ok and if it lasts a couple of years then I got my money's out of it ($22 from cheapest seller at the time).

I just got this grinder and have used it one time. It worked out of the box. If it quits working sooner than expected or develops a glitch I'll update my review.

"Hands free", This coffee grinder does exactly what it says it will do, and does it very well. Highly recommended

"Great Grinder For French Press Coffee", I bought this little grinder because I didnt want to spend a ton of money on a burr grinder for my French Press coffee. I read other reviews and most seemed pleased with it. I would agree. It grinds fresh beans course like a burr grinder, and does it quickly. Lots of power for such a small grinder. Haven't used the other settings since I don't brew coffee. I read some bad comments about the cord being too short, and I'm wondering why you would need a cord any longer than the one provided. It's just fine. Frustration Saver Alert: This grinder will not turn on unless the clear plastic cover is fully set and locked (twisted) in place. The directions don't really tell you that. Enjoy your new grinder!

"Quick & Easy", It takes just seconds to takes coffee beans from whole to practically dust. I had a little difficulty figuring out how the lid fits on to allow it to run but being a man the last thing you do is read the directions. Buy grinding the coffee finer then you get from a store, you can bring out the flavor much better.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Cover vibrates loose. Shuts off early.", Like others, I have experienced this early shut-down right out of the box. It appears the plastic cover loosens and will not keep the 'safety switch' in the back on. The coffee beans are chopped up for a few seconds, then the unit quits. Now what do you do? It won't restart unless you reset the cover. And then, it usually quits early again. If it doesn't, your total grind-time is so excessive the beans are now coffee-dust. There is simply no controlling this spastic unit.
The only way to force this thing to work is to hold the cover in a clockwise twist while the coffee is grinding. So much for being 'automatic'. This unit should be re-called and the designer sent back to the bar where he/she designed this thing.

"The best coffee grinder ever!!!", I received this coffee grinder as a gift and looked up the reviews after receiving it. I panicked when I read about all the people having trouble with it just stopping--all of a sudden it wouldn't work. The same thing happened to me one day. What I found, however, is that the few times this has happened it was because I either didn't have the covered aligned and screwed on properly or the metal part that holds the beans was not screwed in properly. It's not that it's hard to screw the pieces on properly--in hindsight it was my own error in not waiting for the "click-in" that feels right. Actually a no brainer to put the bean-grinder bowl in and put on the top.
I have been using this grinder at least once a day for over a year and aside from the problems created by me, it has performed beautifully. I love it! It is truly hands-off. While the beans are grinding I fill the coffee maker and the beans are ready. Beans in, click (more of a "feel" than a sound), grinder bowl and cover securely on, press button to grind--that's it. No holding anything while waiting for beans to grind. You can also very easily switch the setting from 4 cups to 6-8-10 by slide up or down lever on the front as well as dial in the brew style on the front. For those who had trouble with it just stopping I urge you to go back and try again. This is the best coffee grinder I have owned in about 20 years of "grinding" and I highly recommend it.

"It has nice features, less mess", I like "press a button" feature rather than holding down the top, you can actually prepare your filter while waiting for it to grind coffee, I also like that you can control the grind for what type of coffee maker you have. There's a cup that you can remove to pour the grounds instead of tipping the entire grinder, that's a nice feature. The "lock" is a little sensitive, and takes a couple of twists to get it just right.

"Have it more than 3 years", I loves this grinder. I don't remember when I got it, but it was more than 3 years ago for sure. It works great as other good reviews say. One thing I would like to add. Grinding "dry" coffee beans (the milder roasted coffee beans appear drier) can cause inconsistency in the grind because some of the coffee coarse grind sticks to the side. My solution is tapping the plastic cover of the grinder when it's grinding to force the coffee grind to fall. It works. Considering that I've tapped this machine for more than 3 years, I'm surprised that it lasts this long. Now one of the plastic locking pieces on the cover came off. No surprise. The grinder still works, but I need to hold the cover to lock it in place. I'm going to buy this grinder again for sure.

"Junk. had two, both tore up the first day I used them", I would stop selling this product, if it was me. The blade won't stay on, I used the first one 30 minutes and the second one 5 minutes. Both of them the blades came off, they are junk, and told people they were, not to buy them. I called the maker, they said they would would send me a replayment part, they sent me the wrong part. I gave up and lost forty some dollars, Yes, I hate it!!!
